Description

The genius of the Axle-Less trailer suspension has more to do with what’s not there than what is:

  • Less hassle! You don’t have to worry about ordering the correct axle size.
  • Less time! You can retrofit any medium-duty trailer without waiting for an axle that fits.
  • Less road shock! You will maintain the smoothest ride with or without a load.
  • Less danger! An independent suspension gives you better control of your trailer.

The unique design of the Axle-Less 1 Tonne HD models - heavy-gauge steel components, longer trailing arm and softer rubber spring - sets you up for a successful, worry-free, off-road and overland experience!

One of the critical components of the HD design are extra reinforcements such as gussets which give your Axle-Less suspension the added strength to withstand the kind of abuse that you’ll encounter on your off-road and overland adventure.

The Axle-Less suspension gives you more creative freedom. Now you have more options and flexibility to design and build your off-road and overland trailer to match your needs.

Technical Notes:

Shims are supplied in each Axle-Less HD kit to give you the option to adjust, if necessary, the suspension alignment and camber specific to your trailer frame.

Each hanger comes with a built-in square hole to allow a 2”x2” piece of metal tubing (which can be found at your local hardware store) to act as a cross member, giving extra strength and support. We recommend tubing with a wall thickness of at least 1/8th”.

Most of our Axle-Less HD suspensions use oversized spindles. These spindles will only work with oversized hubs and brakes. To make sure your spindles and hubs fit together perfectly, we suggest you refer to the ACCESSORIES tab above, and purchase your Axle-Less HD suspension together with hubs and brakes.

Polyurethane bushings - used at the pivot point on the control arm - hold the pin firmly in place, resulting in better stability and a more controlled alignment with each moving component. They are weather-resistant and made to last longer, especially in a harsh environment. Furthermore, they’re better able to stand up to the grind of heavy-duty applications.

FAQ's

Does it come as a pair or just one side?

When you purchase one Axle-Less trailer suspension, you always get enough for both sides of the trailer. The price you see advertised includes both left side and right side.

Is the capacity rating for Axle-Less suspensions for one side or both?

The capacity rating represents one complete Axle-Less suspension, i.e. both sides.

Why are some Axle-Less suspensions marked ‘HD’?

The “HD” in an Axle-Less part number stands for heavy-duty. The HD versions are more robust compared to their regular-duty counterparts with the same nominal load rating. For example, ASR2000S and ASR2KHD both have the same load rating (2000 lbs) even though the first one is regular-duty and the second one is heavy-duty. HD suspensions are constructed using thicker steel making them much stronger. Therefore, they withstand more abuse, harsher conditions, and more dynamic loads. HD suspensions are recommended for off-road applications.

Do I need to do anything special to my trailer frame to use the Axle-Less suspension?

First of all, you need to make sure the frame is perfectly square. Secondly, some trailer frames require additional support (like an extension plate to allow bolts to be installed vertically). This would eliminate the use of a cross-member, allowing you to achieve maximum ground clearance.

Does the Axle-Less trailer suspension require any maintenance?

Yes. Some maintenance is required for the Axle-Less suspension such as greasing the pivot bushings and wheel bearings. For detailed maintenance information, refer to the maintenance notes included with the installation instructions.

What kind of warranty comes with the Axle-Less trailer suspension?

The Axle-Less trailer suspension comes with a full 3-year limited warranty.

What’s the difference between an Axle-Less suspension and a torsion suspension?

Axle-Less trailer suspensions are fully independent and do not require an axle. A torsion trailer suspension, on the other hand, is housed within an axle tube.

What are Axle-Less trailer suspension springs made from?

Axle-Less jounce and rebound springs are made from natural rubber, with all the unique characteristics inherent in rubber springs.
